On August 3, 1994, the community voted to increase sales tax to 1/2 cent which allowed construction to begin on the Warrensburg Community Center. The ground breaking ceremony was held at Grover Memorial Park on June 4, 1996. That ceremony kicked off the beginning of construction at the site and it was announced that the Community Center would include an aquatics center, walking track, fitness center, senior center, and several meeting and activity rooms. The Daily Star Journal reported on Wednesday, September 10, 1997 the construction and the assembly of the interior of the Community Center had begun and included a reception desk, a 127' waterslide, and play equipment in the leisure pool. On Saturday, October 4, 1997, the Community Center officially opened with an open house invite to the public to tour the center and check out the programs being offered.

Twenty years later, the Community Center continues to offer a wide variety of activities to help the Warrensburg community stay active and involved including the aerobics classes, recreational sports, and swimming year-round.
