City of Warrensburg Announces Sewer Rate Increase
Warrensburg, MO (September 25, 2017) – The Warrensburg City Council passed an ordinance at the August 28th, 2017 Council meeting establishing new sewer rate volume charges. The first bills with the updated base charges will begin during the October readings for Zone 1 (which will be billed the first week of November). Changes to sewer rates will consist of the following:
2018 Rate Increase/Fixed Charge Increase
Residential sewer accounts:
Base Rate + Volume charge A for each of the first 2 [1]CCF used + Volume charge B for each CCF used over 2 CCF’s.
Base Rate is set at $11.50 per month
Volume Charge A is set at $2.70 per CCF
Volume Charge B is set at $5.11 per CCF
[2]Commercial sewer accounts:
Base Rate + (Volume charge C x Actual CCF usage)
Base Rate is set according to water meter size:
Water meters less than 1” size = $11.50 per month
Water meters at or between 1” – 4” size = $57.50 per month
Water meters greater than 4” size = $138.00 per month
Volume Charge C is set at $4.56 per CCF
After reviewing the HDR Engineering Annual Sewer Rate Review, the City Council along with City Staff, decided to increase rates to remain in compliance with Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) operating standards.
Further, the strategic plan outlines under Focus I that the City will invest in infrastructure though allocating resources efficiently to maintain existing infrastructure and forecasting future needs while properly providing standards that ensure quality infrastructure for growth.
Over time, the funding from the rate increase will allow for payments of debt service and reserve funds which will support future environmental requirements. For more information, please contact the City of Warrensburg at 660-747-9131.
